1. Introduction

The Center for Comparative Law is a legal entity under the VNU School of Law with its own stamp and account, established following Decision no. 522/TCCB dated 12/5/2003 and Decision no. 62/TCCB dated 20/2/2004 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

2. Functions and missions

- Education: Participate in education activities related to comparative law for undergraduate and graduate programs; Conduct short-term training programs on international law for local and international agencies and organizations; Act as the focal point for international partnership related to comparative law education as authorized by the University of Law. 

- Scientific research: Study matters related to comparative law, mainly focus on studying the law of the United States of America, Russian Federation, Great Britain, European Union (EU), World Trade Organization (WTO), Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), China, Japan,... Find partnerships and organize the implementation of projects, contracts for scientific research, application of research on foreign laws, implementation of international cooperation activities in scientific research on comparative law. Organize the drafting of textbooks, reference materials, documents and materials to disseminate legal knowledge and information.

- Provide assistance and consultancy on foreign laws as per request by local and foreign organizations and individuals.

- Build the database on legal information.

(3) Office Culture in Hanoi: Practical Issues and Solutions, Hanoi City-level project. Mã số: 01X-07/05-2007-2. Completed with adequate quality in 2010.

(4) Exemption and Reduction of Penalties in the Penal Law of Some Countries. Project at the School of Law level (under VNU). Completed with good quality in 2006.

(5) Penal Responsibility of Legal Entity in Foreign Penal Law and Its Model in the Penal Law of Vietnam in the Future. Project at the VNU level, Code: CB.03.02. Completed with good quality in 2005.

- Scientific and technological products in the 2016-2020 period:

Provided policy consultancy on legal integration and harmonization policies in ASEAN. Published the Textbook on Comparative Law. Translated books on comparative law and guidelines on the practice of comparative law skills.
